Community Outreach Workshop

A workshop on “Leadership Development and Compassion” was held in Tawang District, Arunachal Pradesh in India, and organized by Jhamtse Gatsal on 8th September 2009.  Around 110 Government Teachers participated.  The chief guest, Brigadier Ashok Ambre, spoke about Leadership.
Then a documentary film was shown about children’s lives before and after they reach Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. Another documentary film demonstrated was “Working Together: a Better Future for the Monpa People.”
Ven. Lobsang Phuntsok talked about Leadership and Compassion. Many questions were asked to him and he answered them well and discussed with participants.

Jhamtse Gatsal, Tibetan for “Garden of Love and Compassion”, is a children’s community located in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas. Opened in 2006, it is currently school and home for 74 children from disadvantaged family situations in the nearby villages.
