Kitchen Improvement!

As the community grows and improves, so has the kitchen.  In the last 2 months, the space available for preparation, cooking, and washing has expanded out the backside of the indoor part of the kitchen.  There is a new clay woodstove, and a triple-basin stainless steel sink for dish-washing, as well as a spacious cement area for washing veggies and other preparation.  And best of all, there is a big new roof to cover the whole area, protecting from the sun and rain, and making the whole space feel quite cozy.

Jhamtse Gatsal, Tibetan for “Garden of Love and Compassion”, is a children’s community located in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas. Opened in 2006, it is currently school and home for 74 children from disadvantaged family situations in the nearby villages.
