New Year’s Celebrations

Sangey TseringWelcome 2014! We, the staff and children, had a very special New Year Celebration this time. Every year we welcome the new year in a special way, but this time it was something special. We started the celebration from 31st of December. We made some special preparations for celebrating the new year. They were:

• We built a new temporary kitchen outside the big field near the classrooms.
• We prepared a special menu for the celebration.
• We fixed the generator, arranged petrol in case we ran out of power (the likelihood of which is very obvious).
• We let the kitchen staff relax, as they always prepare food for us.

All the staff and children were so excited for the celebration. We had a new chef this time and he was Dorjee Bhaiyya – out transportation manager, assisted by kitchen and other staff. He was taking care of preparing meals in the kitchen. After having dinner early, we set a big bonfire on the field, and started music and dancing. It was chilly outside, but once you start dancing it goes away. All the staff, and both the little and older children were dancing. We were actually waiting for 12 o’clock to wish everyone a very Happy New Year 2014. Our plan was, after saying Happy New Year we will go to bed and sleep, but this plan changed once we started to play the music. The little ones had to leave early because they were a bit tired and feeling sleepy. The staff and older kids stayed until around 2:00 in the morning.

And wait, the party is not just over, the next day again everyone was on the dance floor hearing the dance numbers. This year we had a very good celebration…everybody enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully, this New Year brings lots of happiness and success in your life too!
