New News Reporters

In preparation for leaving JG, and in wrapping up a great (staff) computer class, I assigned all the teachers homework this week (gasp!).  The kids loved that someone else was getting the homework for once.  We are transitioning the responsibility for blog content, and so they were all to write their first news article this week – about something that has happened within the last month – so they could all learn how to post them.  It’s great English practice as well!  So start looking for new authors in September!  I also want to point out that we added a ‘Contact Us’ page (look for the link in the sidebar), and we gladly welcome suggestions for topics you would be interested in hearing about from our community members.

Jhamtse Gatsal, Tibetan for “Garden of Love and Compassion”, is a children’s community located in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas. Opened in 2006, it is currently school and home for 74 children from disadvantaged family situations in the nearby villages.
