Jhamste Gatsal is a long way from Boston if one measures by miles or days needed to travel from there to Lumla and Jhamtse Gatsal. But the distance between our hearts is not far at all. When we in the Jhamste Gatsal community heard about the tragic deaths and injuries at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, we were deeply saddened. We remembered that many of the US supporters of JG live in the Boston area. And many have visited JG. Among those are Beezy and Jerry, Monica and Michelle, Sandy and Jon, and Mark and Ted. And we remembered that Gen Lobsang, who was away in Bomdila, had for many years lived and taught near Boston.

We decided to meet together to hear the story of what happened and to convey our sympathy in thoughts and words and prayers. First Ted, speaking in English, told a little bit about what happened. Vasudha translated into Hindi. And then, led by Gen Sangpo, our Bhoti (Tibetan) teacher, we chanted and prayed for the dead, the bereaved, and the injured, including those who were the cause of harm to others. For our friends. For all beings.

Please, take a moment to listen in (above).

How I appreciated the thoughts and chants! I meditated often about the good things in the world including all that happens at Jhamtse Gatsal. You were especially in my thoughts when we of Cambridge and surrounding towns were asked to stay in our houses for all of Friday. It made me appreciate the peace of my month at JGCC all the more.
    With love and prayers,
    Laurel
