Preparations for the New Children

The upcoming arrival of twenty-two new children from the surrounding villages, obviously made almost every staff of Jhamtse Gatsal very busy for the last month or so.  House mothers managed to add more beds, pillows, and other necessary things. Our kitchen staff were also busy coming up with more plates, cups, and spoons. New benches were made for the new kids in order to sit comfortably.  We all were very anxious to see new, sweet and smiling faces of the new children.  I hope they will enjoy themselves, and will be part of our family here at Jhamtse Gatsal.

Jhamtse Gatsal, Tibetan for “Garden of Love and Compassion”, is a children’s community located in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas. Opened in 2006, it is currently school and home for 74 children from disadvantaged family situations in the nearby villages.
